Keno’s History

Keno was first played in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a monetary resource for his declining army. The city of Cheung was at war, and after some time appeared to be facing country wide famine with the drastic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to develop a fast fix for the economic disaster and to create income for his forces. He thusly developed the game we know today as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger municipalities to the lesser towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the US in the 19th century by Chinese newcomers who headed to the United States to jobs. In those times, Keno used 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is regularly bet on with just 80 numbers in most of the US brick and mortar casinos along with internet casinos. Keno is largely liked today as a consequence of the relaxed nature of gambling the game and the basic fact that there are little expertise required to play Keno. Regardless of the fact that the odds of winning are appalling, there is always the hope that you will win quite large with very little gambling investment.

Keno is played with eighty numbers with twenty numbers drawn each game. Players of Keno can pick from two to ten numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they want to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in universal appeal in the United States since the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, American numbers. Lottos weren’t covered under the legalization of gambling in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you are wanting your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that taxed off track betting, Nevada casinos swiftly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
