When describing keno to newbies, some betting pros compare it to the lottery. This is at least nearly correct, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far might be to discount the great many unique aspect that make keno so compelling. Not like bingo, keno users have the ability to pick the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the player is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a doctor of keno to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your chosen numbers with a ordinary#2 pencil like you used when you were in third grade.
Now that you have marked your numbers, take the card back to the girl at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Make sure no to lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and wants help out, without a winning ticket on you, you will win precisely $.00 for your time spent.
So, there you have strategy number one: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us get on to something a bit more complex, shall we?
After you’ve picked out your numbers, settle into a comfortable keno booth and see the action unfold on a big video monitor. This is where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you marked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Sake care not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get back to the keno booth to get your winnings, and then a new drawing will surely start within a few minutes.
Strategy #2: always get back to the keno booth on time!
Assuming you do not trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from two to twenty cards. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played out, you will then be able to get off your numb butt and go collect your winnings.
Another alternative is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually lets you make number choices for 30 rounds or more. Golly, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!
So now you are aware of a couple necessary strategies for winning keno. If you are an accomplished player, they may seem incredibly obvious. But it won’t hurt to brush up on the basic strategies, and if you are a novice gambler, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno gambling more agreeable.
