It will not generally be thought of as the funnest game in the universe of wagering, but keno has huge amounts of devoted supporters. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a consistently thrilling lottery-like game that’s easy to learn, abundantly available in several alternate variations, and one that may yield mega-dollars for people who learn its uncounted subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the basic facts for now.

When explaining keno to novices, some betting experts compare it to lotto. This is at least in some measure correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to take that comparison too far is likely to be to miscalculate the endless unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno users have the ability to pick the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is granted an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a good old#2 pencil like you used when you were in grade 3.

Once you’ve checked your numbers, carry your game card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and wants help out, without a winning slip with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your actions.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno ticket. Let us advance to something a little bit more advanced, yes?

After you’ve checked off your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and watch the action take place on a video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you marked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, and then a new round of keno will probably start up within not too many minutes.

Strategy number two: always be sure to get back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the max number of rounds (the same as the amount of tickets) is played, you may then get off your numb butt and go redeem your winnings.

Still another opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly lets you make number picks for thirty keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to fret about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!

And now you are aware of a couple required schemes for winning keno. If you are an advanced keno player, they may seem stupidly obvious. But it will not hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a beginner user, every bit of advice will help make your keno gambling more fun.
