The background of Keno

Keno was created in 200 before Christ by the Chinese army commander, Cheung Leung who used this game as a monetary resource for his failing forces. The city of Cheung was waging a battle, and after some time appeared to be facing country wide shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to develop a rapid response for the financial disaster and to produce income for his forces. He, as it follows created the game we know today as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno was well-known as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from bigger cities to the lesser villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the USA in the 19th century by Chinese newcomers who headed to the States for work. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is typically gambled on with just 80 numbers in a majority of the US land based casinos along with web casinos. Keno is mainly played today as a result of the relaxed nature of wagering the game and the simple reality that there are no expertise needed to play Keno. Despite the reality that the chances of coming away with a win are horrible, there is always the possibility that you could win quite big with a tiny gambling investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers and twenty numbers are drawn each game. Gamblers of Keno can select from 2 to 10 numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they want to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in popularity in the US since the close of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos weren’t covered under the legalization of wagering in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos altered the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the concept that the numbers are horses and you are wanting your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that taxed off track betting, casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
